“Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.” Romans 15:13
Laughter is truly the best medicine for whatever ails our body, soul or spirit.
God’s Word encourages joy and though there is a season for everything, I do believe that if we are living in the light of His Word we will find much time for joy.
I grew up on Family Circus. Always something to bring a smile to one’s face when reading them.
Grateful to God for the ability to have joy in my life today! Have you thrown your frown away? I have an uncle who lived his joy and laughter as he walked through life. His life wasn’t an easy one when he walked away from his God for years but when he returned, the joy was there always. He was incredible. Here is a poem I wrote that describes who my aspiration on joy was.
I have this uncle his name is Gordie,
He’s quirky and joyous like me.
He has a father my own grandfather
Who taught us what joy can be.
Uncle Gordie would listen when I would talk,
He’d read all my jokes and my posts.
He encouraged me daily with his crazy, kind ways.
Life with him meant living godly—no boast.
Now that he’s gone to his home in the skies,
With my grandparents and his brother he loved.
I’ll miss him for now but I’ll see him so soon,
In our bright, happy home up above.
My children were privileged to share their lives
With he and my Aunt Virginia.
Their visits meant so much to Pierre and I
Their love wrapped us up more than kinda.
To have a great uncle and aunt who loved them
Makes my kids know love and care.
The memories we share will always surround us
With laughter and joy and prayer.
I know that he’d say if he were here now,
Keep singing and telling the story.
Of how Jesus saves and forgives us all
Of our sins from before and now daily.
He loved me so much, I know this is true
And although I’ll miss him on earth.
I can’t wait to sing praises in heaven above
Where he and grandpa are practicing their mirth.
