My mother used to tell me, “never have a hobby you can’t use for God.” Thinking about this I have realized many times over the years that this is very wise indeed. God sees all we do and so why not glorify Him. I Corinthians 10:31 shows us this. “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”
The series, Anne of Green Gables is a great place to start your summer reading. I found the best sentence that made a lot of sense when it comes not only to our hobbies but to our lives today.

This could go so well in anything we say and do in life. So, whether your social media is your hobby or you love to read, sew or bake, have fun and glorify God with it.
READING

I think this has been established that I love to read. On my Kindle l am reading books about WWII and learning that we haven’t really suffered in this country in the past 50+ years. It has made me appreciate the luxurious we enjoy even as middle to lower class Americans today. I read when walking in my pool. I am enjoying this so thoroughly as it takes me back to my teen years and summers of reading for hours on end amazing books. You could also read to your children. I have some great ideas here.
WRITING

Another obvious one of mine is writing. When I started experiencing pain from my EDS and had to spend time in bed, I discovered I enjoyed writing and got started. I have four books published and am currently working on my first children’s book. You can find my works here.
SEWING

Another hobby that I enjoy doing is sewing. I don’t get to it as much during the school year since I’ve been busy teaching Mellie but I do enjoy simple sewing projects and when she is in high school, I’d like to take up quilting. So far I’ve only dabbled in it.
Hobbies are relaxing and can still be even educational (being a learner all through life is something I aim to do!). What hobbies are you doing these days?
