“The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.” Proverbs 11:30
I love to sing. I think you know this by now with all the songs I recommend. The books I have written are filled with the hymns of faith that I grew up on.
Today, I had to share one of my favorite hymns. It was a hymn that I marched out to after graduating high school. The words are rich in meaning. It is a call to us as Christians that our time on earth is to be spent wisely. Now is the time for sharing the gospel. It is our time to bring Jesus to the world.
Mary Thomson recognized this when she penned these words in the late 1800’s. She immigrated from England to Pennsylvania as a young married woman. They would go on to have 12 children, 5 of whom died of infancy. I would think that she thought her mission field was in her home.
The words of her song reflect that now only is our mission field our home but our community as well as the world around us. If we understand this, we will be less concerned about the social and political aspects of our world and more concerned about the souls of men.

O ZION HASTE
O Zion, haste, thy mission high fulfilling,
To tell to all the world that God is light,
That He who made all nations is not willing
One soul should perish, lost in shades of night.
Behold how many thousands still are lying
Bound in the darksome prison house of sin,
With none to tell them of the Savior’s dying,
Or of the life He died for them to win.
Proclaim to every people, tongue, and nation
That God, in whom they live and move, is love;
Tell how He stooped to save His lost creation,
And died on earth that we might live above.
’Tis thine to save from peril of perdition
The souls for whom the Lord His life laid down:
Beware lest, slothful to fulfill thy mission,
Thou lose one jewel that should deck His crown.
Give of thy sons to bear the message glorious;
Give of thy wealth to speed them on their way;
Pour out thy soul for them in prayer victorious;
O Zion, haste to bring the brighter day.
He comes again! O Zion, ere thou meet Him,
Make known to every heart His saving grace:
Let none whom he Hath ransomed fail to greet Him,
Through thy neglect, unfit to see His face.
Listen to the music here. Enrich your soul today and be ready to share the glorious gospel with those you meet along the way!.
