Why We Need To Get Saved Today

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” Romans 10:9

Our pastor in Iowa preached this great sermon on NOW being the time to get saved.  Why do we put off something that will affect us for eternity?

We wait knowing tomorrow is not guaranteed to us?  Why should we get saved today!

NOW is the accepted time. The Word of God demands it! The Bible reminds us that time on earth will not last. Salvation is God’s free gift to us. Jesus, Son of God became the Son of Man when He came down to earth to be born in a lowly manger. He lived here on earth and walked among men bringing hope and assurance that He alone was/is the way to Heaven.  II Corinthians 6:2 says, “…behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”

Saved by the blood of the Crucified One!
Now ransomed from sin and a new work begun,
Sing praise to the Father and praise to the Son,
Saved by the blood of the Crucified One!

God’s Holy Spirit is still in touch with man!

When Noah was alive on earth and God was watching the world wax worse and worse, He realized there wasn’t many who believed on Him. In Genesis 6:3, the Lord says, “My spirit shall not always strive with man”. He saw their wickedness. God destroyed the earth and only eight righteous people were left.  Our eternal survival rests in the fact that the Holy Spirit is still working in the hearts and lives of men today! Galatians 5:16 reminds us to, “walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.”

Saved by the blood of the Crucified One!
The angels rejoicing because it is done;
A child of the Father, joint heir with the Son,
Saved by the blood of the Crucified One!

The book of Proverbs speaks a lot of the fool. Proverbs 27:1 says, “Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.”

We have no assurance of tomorrow!

With all the turmoil in the world, our days are filled with thinking of death. Are you assured of heaven? “Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.” (II Peter 3:13)

Saved by the blood of the Crucified One!
The Father He spake, and His will it was done;
Great price of my pardon, His own precious Son;
Saved by the blood of the Crucified One!

There is roughly on average 150,000 people that die in the world daily!  Death is all around us. The moment we are born, we start to die. The opportunity for salvation is now!  Hebrews 9:27 reminds us, “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:” Are you ready for your appointment for death?

Saved by the blood of the Crucified One!
All hail to the Father, all hail to the Son,
All hail to the Spirit, the great Three in One!
Saved by the blood of the Crucified One!

You are creating for yourself a life of misery!

Proverbs tells us that “the way of transgressors is hard.” (13:15) Transgressors will not have an easy life and it leads to death.  Hell is a very horrible place as described in Revelation 19:20, “a lake of fire burning with brimstone.” Salvation is the only way to escape it.  Are you saved by Jesus’ blood?

Glory, I’m saved! Glory, I’m saved!
My sins are all pardoned, my guilt is all gone!
Glory, I’m saved! Glory, I’m saved!
I am saved by the blood of the Crucified One!
