Everyone loves to talk about the new trends or the latest toy, fashions, etc. I love to be reminded of the “old days.” Life was simple and joys complete in the little things of life.
This week’s book review is by an author who shows us just how precious the old ways are.
Tasha Tudor was born Natasha Burgess in Massachusetts. Her mother was an artist. Over time, Natasha learned to live a more bohemian lifestyle and to use her time as a child to recreate plays of Shakespeare with her friends. She, too, learned to paint and she has done all the illustrations for her books. Over the course of the years, she legally changed her name to Tasha Tudor (liking the sound of it).
She has written and illustrated over 100 books like this one.
A Is For Annabelle
I have a lot of this book memorized from reading it to my children. It goes through the alphabet and shows so many sweet pieces that Annabelle (the doll) owns.
Tasha Tudor was known for her illustrations that came filled with corgis in every book. Her sons recreated a home for her of some dear New Hampshire friends. She loved to walk about in the gardens with her pups.
One of my favorite books of hers is: A Time To Keep. I was gifted it as a child by my parents. I love that it goes through the months of the years looking back on how Tasha Tudor’s family was raised and how they lived. Her illustrations are uniquely hers and bring a calm to the soul.
