“His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” Matthew 25:21
I was starting out to write about faithfulness.
However, I thought instead I would share with you what I do in the mornings and the verse I want to share will be woven in.
I am an early bird by nature. Okay, I also burn the midnight oil. These habits learned from both my parents whom I would see up early and still working late into the evening most nights. The joys of pastoring and teaching while living in a parsonage. I had a great childhood and teen years of living close to the church and seeing my parents work hard.
With this example, I soon learned that (for me) reading my Bible first thing in the morning was the best time for me. I recognize that everyone is different. That being said, I cannot imagine NOT starting my day in quiet reflection, devotion and worship of my God.
I have read my Bible through from cover to cover. Also, I have read portions at a time while having a devotional book nearby for aid. I have read books of the Bible in different orders as well. However, a couple of years ago, at the idea of a friend, Lynnae, I started writing out verses with a theme each month.
I love to write and I love my Bic pens so I really enjoyed this method.
Soon, I decided that I should be writing out a whole book of the Bible and I started with one of the smaller epistles in the New Testament. This made me even happier. I was slowly writing out God’s Word and focusing on phrases and words instead of chapters at a time.
That being said, I should have written down when I started doing this but I didn’t. I estimate that it has been two years now and in that time I have written out 36 books of the Bible. This means I am over halfway done.
I take my time and some days I write more than others. This morning I wrote this verse out in Nehemiah. “And foundest his heart faithful before thee…” (Nehemiah 9:8a) The people of Israel are standing, listening to the words of God read to them. This verses is talking about Abraham. I had to stop and ponder this question.

Will I be found faithful?
I certainly hope so and in writing my Bible out, I’m hoping that I am delving deep into His Word and finding nuggets like these daily to encourage, challenge and strengthen me. I actually know I am.
Whether you read your Bible, write it, sing it, memorize it or meditate on it; the most important book for you to have in your life IS God’s Word.
