“Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.” Psalm 55:22
We hear a lot about balance in life. How can we balance our life to have perfect harmony day by day? Hebrews 11:6 tells us, “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Belief in God is the crux of having a balanced life.
I need Thee every hour, most gracious Lord;
No tender voice like Thine can peace afford.
In Romans 6:16 we see how if we live in acceptance of God, life will have balance. “Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey…” Think about some of those vices in the world that we end up being servant, too. Do they make us happy and give us balance in our lives? Balance includes accepting Him to guide and obeying Him in what He asks.
I need Thee every hour, stay Thou nearby;
Temptations lose their pow’r when Thou art nigh.
Balance comes to those who live in peace. People who are living according to God’s Word experience this peace. Life isn’t difficult to balance when God is in our midst. I Peter 2:9 reminds us why we live according to God’s Word. “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;” When we come into the light – His light – we are then chosen to live above this dark world. This is actually a good thing. We are able to live peaceably in this dark world because we are His.
I need Thee every hour, in joy or pain;
Come quickly and abide, or life is vain.
Once we accept to live by His Word and we are living in His will, we will find out that the balance in our life just settles itself out. Philippians 1:6 shows us this in saying, “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:” There will never be a need to be unbalanced if we are doing the good work that He began in us the moment we were born. Our duties were determined, our path was chosen and we just need to stay tuned to Him and seek Him to be led through life balanced and living for God.
I need Thee every hour; teach me Thy will;
And Thy rich promises in me fulfill.
Choosing joy in the journey means that every minute may be hard but it doesn’t need to be sad and dreary. “But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy,…” Acts 20:24 is a great verse because it is reminding us to have joy in our journey. Let’s balance our life with joy and then the race we call life will be full of peace.
I need Thee every hour, most Holy One;
Oh, make me Thine indeed, Thou blessed Son.
We all need more balance in our lives and finding that balance will bring us nearer to God and show us our need of Him and isn’t that a wonderful goal to have?
I need Thee, oh, I need Thee; every hour I need Thee;
Oh, bless me now, my Savior, I come to Thee.
