Trials, Our Path, Not Our Home

Life been tough?  Are you slogging through life wondering what is the point or how can you go on?  Remind yourself, today, you are just a pilgrim in this world.  Beautiful poem which is actually a song (has the same tune as O Sacred Head Thou Wounded).  Let it remind us why we don’t need to slog through life today.  We can choose joy, peace and happiness.

A pilgrim and a stranger,
I journey here below;
Far distant is my country,
The home to which I go.
Here I must toil and travail,
Oft weary and oppressed,
But there my God shall lead me
To everlasting rest.

“To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest;” Isaiah 28:12

It is a well worn pathway;
A host has gone before,
The holy saints and prophets,
The patriarchs of yore.
They trod the toilsome journey
In patience and in faith;
And them I fain would follow,
Like them in life and death.

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,” Hebrews 12:1

So I must hasten forward
Thank God, the end will come!
This land of passing shadows
Is not my destined home.
That evermore abideth,
The everlasting city,
This evermore abideth,
The home of light and love.

“And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.” I John 2:25

Do you know you’re going to that eternal rest?  Do you KNOW Him today? In knowing you have an eternal rest, then you can walk through these trials on earth with peace, joy and a calmness that everyone will notice.
