If Jesus Goes With Me

“Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.” Deuteronomy 31:6

Have you been in the valley? When we walk through the valley it’s because we are walking through a low part spiritually. I believe this is where the spiritual battles are fought (and hopefully won) with the devil. God is with us always and He will fight our battles with us but that doesn’t mean we won’t encounter danger. Some dangers can be found in one of my favorite passages in Isaiah 43:2,

“When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.” There are certainly countless dangers expressed just in this passage alone but God is with us! He sees us through the dangers and then gives us peace and sunshine.  Whether our days are hard spiritually or easy, Jesus is there!

It may be in the val­ley, where count­less dangers hide;
It may be in the sun­shine that I, in peace, abide;
But this one thing I know, if it be dark or fair,
If Je­sus is with me, I’ll go any­where!

In my life I have had a few dark valleys and I never lost hope because I knew that Jesus was with me.  God is my Heavenly Father and He has walked this path with me time and again.  “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” (Psalm 23:4)

It may be I must car­ry the bless­ed Word of life
Across the burn­ing deserts to those in sin­ful strife;
And though it be my lot to bear my co­lors there,
If Je­sus goes with me, I’ll go any­where!

When the day gets very long and rough because my body is breaking down in pain and when I can’t stop because I have little ones to care for as well as a husband, I remember the verse in Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” God has given me the privilege to serve Him in my own home!

But if it be my por­tion to bear my cross at home,
While oth­ers bear their bur­dens beyond the bil­low’s foam,
I’ll prove my faith in Him, confess His judg­ments fair,
If Je­sus stays with me, I’ll stay any­where!

Every place we have moved to over the years, we have asked God’s leading.  Sometimes we were surprised at where He led us as opposed to where we wanted to go but in the end, we trusted God and stepped out by faith and we have never been disappointed.  Watching God lead and submitting to Him means we are given such blessings as to fill many a book with praises to Him.

It is not mine to quest­ion the judg­ment of my Lord,
It is but mine to fol­low the lead­ings of His Word;
But if to go or stay, or whe­ther here or there,
I’ll be, with my Sav­ior, content any­where!

If we say we will go with Jesus anywhere we will have such peace and contentment as to say we are experiencing a little bit of Heaven on earth.

If Je­sus goes with me, I’ll go any­where!
’Tis Hea­ven to me, where’er I may be, if He is there!
I count it a pri­vi­lege here, His cross to bear,
If Je­sus goes with me, I’ll go any­where!
