This was originally published 3 years ago but I thought we needed the reminder today as my girls and I get ready to board a train for Wyoming! Praise HIM!
“Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises. For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding. God reigneth over the heathen: God sitteth upon the throne of his holiness. The princes of the people are gathered together, even the people of the God of Abraham: for the shields of the earth belong unto God: he is greatly exalted.” Psalm 47:6-9
Stephanie, my daughter, (17) has become quite the author with writing devotionals for us from time to time. This one was such a good one and I have decided to not do a lot of editing but to let her words speak to you through her voice. She is a beautiful soul who is my right arm and leg most days around here.
I like to challenge myself on anything I believe on TO the Bible and one thing I thought when I was younger was that we had to follow a certain formula for prayer, thinking it was the only way to pray: “Thank God, Pray/Ask Him, Amen.”
This is a good thing! Nothing wrong with that and I still do that today but as I’m reading through Psalms, whole chapters are dedicated to just praising God. He didn’t ask for anything, just thanking God for what He has and how excellent He is!

This devotional is not for condemning how you’re praying, just something I found that was interesting and I really enjoyed! He gives us so much that we can easily have a whole 20 minutes of prayer just praising at least. Next time you pray, maybe set aside an amount of time to just praise Him, too. It always puts me in a good mood thinking of all the blessings I have.
Praise Him! Praise Him! Jesus, our blessed Redeemer!
Sing, O earth—His wonderful love proclaim!
Hail Him! Hail Him! Highest archangels in glory;
Strength and honor give to His holy Name!
Like a shepherd, Jesus will guard His children,
In His arms He carries them all day long.
Praise Him! Praise Him! Tell of His excellent greatness;
Praise Him! Praise Him! Ever in joyful song!
Let’s sing this song and be reminded of His wonderful greatness!
