Gratefulness Comes Forth Thru Music

“Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;” Ephesians 5:19

Today I’m grateful – VERY grateful for godly music.  Worship comes with a great emotion of gratefulness. Worshipping God in song is, for me, one of the best ways to fulfill a longing my heart to be close to Him.

I’m also especially grateful for live music in house at any moment of any day (yes, it gets loud but worth it). Pierre plays throughout the day and it can be soothing, peaceful and fill us with hope.

Music is such a balm to the soul for the good times and the tough times. God blessed us with beautiful music and I’m so glad my momma kept me singing since I was little. She said I loved to carry a baby and sing. I was well practiced by the time I became a mother.

One of my favorite reasons to attend church each week is to worship Him in song.  The worship in song helps prepare our hearts to receive His Word when the preacher preaches.  It is a necessary part of the service as we lift our voices to God.  Some of us are not great orators.  And when we have this feeling of great love in our hearts towards the Savior Who died for us, we need to let it out!

Singing the great hymns of our faith, is such a perfect way for everyone to praise Him in words even if we are not a great orator.  When you sing these hymns, focus on the words and how they worship God.  You don’t have to be a great singer with your voice, just let the words come out in praise to Him.

People asking me what my favorite hymn is comes along with the same stress as when they ask me my favorite book.  I cannot choose just one!  I choose one and another comes to mind.  It is just how my brain works.  My life (my brain) is song.  I don’t think a day goes by when my children will not hear, “I know a song for that”.  Sometimes it is a Sunday school chorus and sometimes a hymn or even a jingle but music is definitely a constant in my mind.  It’s a beautiful thing!

How will you worship God today?

This song that Pierre is playing is so powerful as we are reminded to worship our King!

“By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.” Hebrews 13:5
